Day 3 - Jacumba to Calexico

The weather was ideal (temperature & no wind) for our 13 mile descent off the Jacumba  Mountain down to the Yuha desert.  We ended the ride where a border wall separates Calexico with a population of 36,000 and Mexicali with a population of 1,000,000.

We ended the day at LAS Chavelas in Calexico  with fellow coasters Kathleen, Gary and our bartender enjoying some big mugs of Mexican beer after the ride.

A key highlight today was an exhilarating 13 mile descent where the first 6 miles was a 6% grade.  That was our reward after climbing the past two days.

After the long descent, the first rest stop was at the Red Feather Cafe where Henry found a very important guide for the rest of our trip.  This guide purports to accurately identify any animals we find as roadkill, which is often.  Adrian also found a great pair of cyclocross gloves at the cafe.

Seen here is Adrian in the Yuha desert inspired by Tom Petty's hit single "Into The Great Wide Open".

After the ride we both had this amazing Salad at a local coffee shop.  This is a must stop for future C2C riders.

Tomorrow we enter our second state as we cross into Yuma, Arizona.
